Biography: Austin Booth

Austin Booth is currently 19th Executive Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.  Prior to this role, Booth served as the Chief of Staff and Chief Financial Officer of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, and a captain in the United States Marine Corps. In January of 2025, Booth will become the Chief Executive Officer of Banded Holdings, Inc., the parent company of premier outdoor lifestyle brands Banded®, Avery Outdoors®, and Thacha®.

Booth was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, raised in Scott, Arkansas, and graduated from Catholic High School for Boys in 2004. Booth then attended The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and graduated in 2008. Following The Citadel, Booth began law school at The University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia, South Carolina.

In 2010, Booth attended Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia and accepted a commission as a second lieutenant. Following graduation from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2011, Booth reported for active duty at Parris Island, South Carolina.

In eight years of service, Booth served as a prosecutor in dozens of complex criminal cases, legal advisor in Afghanistan on kinetic strikes and combat operations, Military Fellow for Congressman Steve Womack, and congressional appropriations liaison for the Marine Corps on Capitol Hill. In this capacity, he advocated for the Marine Corps’ budget priorities within his $11 billion portfolio of aircraft procurement, ground procurement, and research and development.

In three and half years as the Executive Director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Booth led the agency in redefining its strategic priorities in conservation in the Natural State. Under his leadership, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission expanded public access by more than 7,000 acres, elevated private lands conservation through the creation of a Private Lands Habitat Division and the creation of a private landowner cost share incentive program, initiated renovation of Arkansas’ fabled greentree reservoirs, and increased capital construction on legacy projects by more than 200%. These accomplishments were realized only though a disciplined emphasis on “habitat first, people always.”
